Being a one of the best co-operative societies in the district, Totagar’s Rural Co-operative Agricultural Multipurpose Society Ltd., Sirsi (TRC) has recently completed centenary year of its establishment. Society was registered in 1913 by the name of the “Sirsi Totagars Co-Operative Paraspara Sahakari Sangha”. Name was changed as the Totagars Rural Co-Operative Credit Bank in 1962. In 2011, it was renamed as Totagar’s Rural Co-operative Agricultural Multipurpose Society Ltd., Sirsi(U.K.). The Society is a primary agricultural co-operative credit society (PACS), having an area of operation of entire Uttara Kannada district except Karwar taluk. Initially society was started with 8 shareholders, now surpassed 3500 share members. The society was initiated by Late Mr. Venkatarao Nilekani with the help of others to safeguard the interest of arecanut farmers. Then, under the leadership of late Mr. Shripad Hegde Kadave and Shri D. D. Vishwamitra, society was grown to a new height. Currently Shri R. S. Hegde Kadave is the chairman of the society.
